Why Kindred exists
Moving can be exciting and lonely at the same time. A new place may offer work, study or adventure, while everyday belonging still takes time. Kindred is designed to shorten the distance between “I am new here” and “I know people here.”
The project favors manageable social steps, clear activities and public meeting places. Kindred is not a dating service. Its purpose is adult friendship, community discovery and practical support for people building a social life in a new place.
What Kindred offers

What you can check before joining a community
The Berlin collection brings together organiser-published schedules, fees and joining details. The local-group guide links to German provider directories. Our comparison tool adds your actual travel time and cost while keeping missing information visible. These tools help with a first-visit decision; they do not book places or establish that a friendship will follow.
The public posting board currently has no threaded replies. Meetup proposals and private profiles depend on member participation, and a city may have no suitable result. Kindred does not verify attendance or promise a match.
Who Kindred is for
Kindred is written primarily for adults who are new to a city or country, rebuilding a social life after change, working remotely, learning a language or simply looking for more compatible friendships. The guides are designed to be useful even if a reader never creates a community account.
Creator and editorial responsibility
Nadiia Honda is the creator and editor of Kindred, an independent project dedicated to helping people build meaningful friendships and feel more at home in a new city.
She created Kindred to offer practical, thoughtful guidance for the moments that often feel the most difficult: meeting people after moving, starting natural conversations, finding welcoming groups and turning new acquaintances into lasting friendships.
Nadiia develops Kindred with an emphasis on realistic actions, personal boundaries, privacy and safer public meetings. Some guides and tools are drafted and revised with AI assistance, as described in the editorial policy. The project avoids promises of instant connection and instead focuses on the small, repeatable steps that help trust and belonging grow over time.
Kindred is an independent project. Nadiia continues to develop its guides and adult community tools in response to reader and member feedback. Editorial content is kept separate from advertising decisions, and articles are updated when guidance, site features or safety information materially changes.
